Good to know
Validity and multiple entriesConditions and details
The eVisitor allows travel to Australia for 12 months from its grant, with multiple entries; each stay is limited to 3 months after entry. It cannot be extended: to stay longer, another visa must be applied for. Staying after expiry without another visa makes the person an "unlawful non-citizen", who may be removed.Genuine visitorConditions and details
The intention must be only a temporary stay, and the conditions and duration attached to the visa must be complied with. In the case of long stays or regular visits, the purpose of travel may be asked at the next entry, and the eVisitor may be cancelled if the person is not a genuine visitor.Sufficient meansConditions and details
The page requires having enough money to support oneself during the stay and to leave Australia at the end. It specifies neither an amount nor any supporting document to be attached.Criminal convictionConditions and details
In the event of a criminal conviction in a country, the page advises applying instead for the visitor visa (subclass 600). A person arriving on an eVisitor with a conviction may be refused entry.Health requirementConditions and details
The health requirement of the department must be met. A person who did not meet it in an earlier application must instead apply for the visitor visa (subclass 600), as must a person who wants to train in a childcare centre, study to become a doctor, dentist, nurse or paramedic, or enter a care or hospital setting.Health insuranceConditions and details
The department recommends health insurance covering unforeseen care: the traveller personally bears all their health costs in Australia. Some countries have a reciprocal health care agreement with Australia. No workConditions and details
The eVisitor is not a work visa: no paid work for an Australian employer; it may be cancelled in the event of work or an intention to work. Business visitor activities are limited (enquiries, contract negotiations, official visit, unpaid conference). Studies or training: a maximum of 3 months in total.- Round-trip cruiseA visa is required to enter Australia during a cruise. Time spent on a return cruise counts as time spent in Australia and does not reset the length of stay.
Proof of your visaConditions and details
The visa is linked digitally to the passport, with no label. Its conditions, the length of stay and the departure date can be checked in VEVO or in the grant letter. Any change (phone, email, address, passport, family situation, birth) must be reported to the department.
