Steps

  1. Check, by selecting your nationality on the Visas para ingresar a Chile page of the consular portal, whether prior authorisation or a visa is required, and its cost and requirements.
  2. Open the Servicios Consulares en línea platform (tramites.minrel.gov.cl) and select Solicitar visa o autorización previa.
  3. Complete the online form explaining the purpose of travel and the length of stay; a multiple-entry application must be justified by specifying the number of entries.
  4. Upload the required documents in PDF format, with file names free of symbols or special characters.
  5. Answer any requests from the consulate: additional documents, including an apostilled or legalised criminal record extract, or a personal interview with all documents in original.
  6. Track the status of the application on the platform (Ver estado solicitud de visa o autorización previa).
  7. Receive the decision, approval or refusal, by email.
  8. If approved, pay for the visa according to the instructions sent by the consulate, within 30 days.
  9. Receive the electronic visa by email, print it and present it at entry into Chile together with the valid travel document.
