The visa application form is completed only online, on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (service tramitesmre.cancilleria.gov.co). Attach the passport page bearing your last entry stamp, the equivalent entry authorization from Migración Colombia, or a safe-conduct accepted for the application. The safe-conduct must be accompanied by the corresponding resolution, order or administrative decision. Accepted are the SC2 bearing the words "para solicitud de visa", the one issued for provisional or conditional release ordered by the competent authority, or the one issued after a final decision on an application for recognition of refugee status. A visa application does not by itself regularize the stay.If you are invited: written request from your host in Colombia, signed by hand with fingerprintConditions and details
In the case of an invitation, the written request comes from the Colombian host, or from a foreigner only if he or she is the principal holder of a permanent resident visa (R). It is signed by hand and bears the fingerprint of the index finger or thumb. The host states therein his or her telephone, physical address and electronic address, his or her connection with the traveler and his or her assumption of travel and stay expenses. He or she also mentions therein the other foreigners he or she has sponsored. He or she finally undertakes to the government to guarantee the traveler's return or to report an irregular stay. This item applies in the case of an invitation, even if you are not hosted by the person who invites you.
Steps
- Check whether your nationality must obtain a visa for a tourism trip, then consult the application assessment and issuance fees
- Complete the online visa application form on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Outside Colombia, choose the competent consulate closest to the place of residence; if you are in Colombia, choose « Oficina en Bogotá »
- Attach on the SITAC platform the digitized documents in PDF and the photo in JPG format
- Pay the application assessment fees within 10 calendar days following the creation of the application, with the assigned reference number
- Wait for the decision: up to 30 calendar days after submission of a complete application and payment, a period that may be exceeded if other agencies must be consulted. Respond to requests for additional documents on SITAC within the indicated period
- If the visa is approved, pay the issuance fees within 10 calendar days following the approval
- Receive the electronic visa by email, within ten working days following payment of the issuance fees according to resolution 5477

Documents other than the passport must have been issued no more than 3 months before the application. Any document issued abroad must be apostilled or legalized and, if necessary, translated. Illegible, altered, incomplete or ambiguous documents may result in the inadmissibility or refusal of the application.Duration of stay provided by the tourism visaConditions and details
The visa is valid for up to one year. The authorized stay is 90 days, extendable by 90 days. It can no longer be extended once 180 days are reached, continuous or not, per 365-day period counted from the issuance of the visa. Count all your previous stays in this period to comply with this cap.- Exit ticket required on arrivalOn entry into Colombia, immigration control requires proof that you possess the exit ticket from the country.
- Permitted activitiesThis visa is reserved for leisure, tourism and activities of cultural interest. It does not allow working in Colombia and does not admit an application as a beneficiary.
Electronic visaConditions and details
The electronic visa is sent to the address indicated in your application. Article 101 of resolution 5477 provides for its sending within ten working days following payment of the issuance fees. If its validity is three months or less, the FAQ indicates that no sticker is necessary in the passport. Request correction of an error within 15 calendar days following issuance; after this period, a visa transfer procedure is necessary.Non-refundable application assessment feeConditions and details
Payment for the assessment of the application is not refundable and does not guarantee the granting of the visa. An application whose fee is zero must also go through the payment step to be registered.Means of payment indicated by the ministryConditions and details

Discretionary decision, without administrative appealConditions and details
The granting of the visa and its period of validity fall within the discretionary power of the Colombian State. Decisions of approval, refusal, inadmissibility or cancellation are not subject to administrative appeal.In case of refusalConditions and details
After a refusal, no new application may be registered for six months; it must then be made from the country of nationality or legal permanent residence. If you are in Colombia, the resolution provides for leaving the country within 30 calendar days following the refusal. In case of inadmissibility, the procedure ends and a new application may be filed.No registration in the foreigners registryConditions and details
Holders of a visitor visa (V) Turismo are exempt from registration in the Migración Colombia foreigners registry and from the foreigner ID card procedure (cédula de extranjería), regardless of the visa validity.- The visa does not guarantee entryThe visa authorizes entry into Colombia, but the immigration control authority may refuse it if it finds a ground for non-admission.

A person who has multiple nationalities, other than Colombian, presents under only one of them for entry, stay, visa application and exit. A visa obtained with one nationality is not transferable to the other.
