Choosing the right formality

Check the conditions related to your nationality, your passport and your trip. Accès Maroc offers the eVisa and the electronic travel authorisation to Morocco (AEVM): two distinct formalities on the same portal. Follow the pathway corresponding to your situation.

For an ordinary visa, find the competent representation according to your place of residence in the consular directory. If there is no representation in your country, contact the accredited mission to find out the submission channel.

Applying for an eVisa

  1. Check your eligibility on Accès Maroc and the validity of the documents corresponding to your category.
  2. Enter the information exactly as on your passport and supporting documents.
  3. Attach a colour photo of 35 × 45 mm, taken in the last 6 months, a colour copy of the passport and the conditional documents.
  4. Use JPG, JPEG or PDF files, 1 MB maximum. For a business trip, also provide proof of the purpose.
  5. Check the application before validation and payment: a validated and paid application cannot be cancelled or refunded.
  6. Track the file online and respond to requests for additional information. Prepare the granted eVisa and the supporting documents required on arrival.

The ordinary passport must remain valid for at least 90 days on the date of application. Categories based on residence or another visa also require an eligible document with sufficient validity.

Documents for a consular tourist visa

Alternative financial documents are not all required together. eVisa and consular documents differ, in particular photo dimensions and minimum passport validity.

Fees, payment and processing times

Check the applicable amount on Accès Maroc or with the consulate before paying. For a consular tourist visa, consular fees are among the items required at issuance.

The announced eVisa processing times are 24 hours for express and 72 hours for standard, counted on working days in Morocco. They do not apply to incomplete applications or those containing false information. For a consular visa, ask the relevant post about the processing time for your visa purpose.

On arrival and during the stay

A visa does not guarantee entry: border authorities verify admission conditions. With an eVisa, present your passport and the authorisation, as well as the residence permit or visa on which your eligibility was based, if applicable.

The eVisa conditions also provide for a return ticket, hospitalisation and repatriation insurance covering the stay, and resources: international bank card or cash equivalent to more than 70 euros per person per day.

The eVisa allows a single entry and a stay of 30 days maximum; its 180 days of validity are not a length of stay. Successive eVisas do not allow stays to be accumulated without exiting. A holder under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal representative.

The eVisa does not allow residence to be applied for. The visa type cannot be changed after entry: a new visa must be applied for from the country of residence. With a long-validity visa, a stay of more than 3 months requires an application for a registration card with the DGSN.

Work, studies and special conditions

For a work visa, the basic documents are accompanied by an employment contract approved by the ministry responsible for employment. For business, invitations or recommendations depend on the purpose. A tourist eVisa does not replace this pathway.

For studies, prepare the proof of enrolment or scholarship corresponding to your pathway and the required resources or support. Enrolment in a private institution requires a prior opinion from the ministry responsible for higher education, except for an approved grande école. AMCI files follow their own supporting documents.

For an eVisa based on residence, you must actually reside in an eligible country and hold a residence card or permit valid for at least 180 days on the application date. Application or renewal receipts, special certificates and work permits do not replace this document.

For the category based on another visa, it must be non-electronic, multiple-entry, issued by an eligible country and valid for at least 90 days on the date of application. Check the current official list and all conditions on Accès Maroc.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Morocco?

This depends in particular on your nationality, your travel document and the purpose. Use the VisaGuideline selector, then check the formality on Accès Maroc or with the competent representation.

Are the eVisa and the AEVM interchangeable?

No. The same Accès Maroc portal gives access to these two formalities, with distinct pathways. A travel authorisation must not be confused with an electronic visa; follow the pathway that corresponds to your situation.

Is a foreign residence permit sufficient to obtain the eVisa?

No. You must in particular actually reside in an eligible country, hold the accepted document with at least 180 days of validity at application and an ordinary passport valid for at least 90 days. A renewal receipt or a work permit does not replace the required document.

Can I stay 180 days with an eVisa?

No. The 180 days correspond to its maximum validity from issue. The eVisa is single-entry and the stay cannot exceed 30 days. It does not allow residence to be applied for.

Can a visa be obtained at the border?

The authorities present issuance at the border as exceptional. Do not travel assuming a general right to a visa on arrival: check your formality before the trip.

Are the documents the same for the eVisa and the consulate?

No. Photo formats, passport conditions and supporting documents differ. For consular tourism, some documents are required at submission and others on issue; follow the list for your pathway.
