Proof of sufficient financial resources for expenses in CyprusConditions and details
Prepare proof showing that you can cover your expenses during the stay. The authorities at the border may request them and decide on entry on a case-by-case basis, according to the purpose, the duration of the stay and the accommodation. The official annex on means of subsistence does not set a daily amount for Cyprus. Ask the consulate which financial supporting documents to attach to your file.Visa valid only for CyprusConditions and details
The Cypriot visa is valid for the Republic of Cyprus; it does not by itself allow travel in the rest of the Schengen area. Respect the limit of 90 days over any period of 180 days, taking into account your previous stays, as well as the dates and duration authorized on your visa.Exemption for holders of a Schengen visa or residence permitConditions and details
A valid Schengen visa with two entries or multiple entries, or a valid national visa or residence permit issued by a Schengen State, may exempt you from the Cypriot visa for a short stay of 90 days at most within a 180-day period. This provision does not apply to Turkish and Azerbaijani nationals. Residing in a Schengen country is not sufficient to prove this exemption: have your document and your situation verified before departure.Cyprus and the Schengen areaConditions and details
The Schengen area without internal border controls comprises 29 countries: 25 EU States and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Cyprus participates in Schengen cooperation, but controls at its borders have not yet been lifted. For this trip, therefore, check the entry rules specific to the Republic of Cyprus.- Do not buy the tickets before the visa is issuedWait for the visa to be issued before buying your tickets. For the application, prepare the round-trip pre-booking requested by the ministry.
Additional documents and interviewConditions and details
The diplomatic mission or consulate where the application is submitted may request additional documents and summon the applicant to an interview. For certain third countries, an EU act sets a harmonized list of documents and simplified rules for multiple-entry visas; failing that, the general rules of the Visa Code handbook apply.- Assessment of the application by the consulateConsular officers assess the purpose of the trip and the applicant's intention to return to their country of origin.
The visa does not guarantee entryConditions and details
A valid visa does not give an automatic and unconditional right of entry. On arrival, the authorities may verify the purpose of the trip, the entry conditions and the financial resources, and refuse entry.Non-refundable feesConditions and details
Visa fees are not refunded when the application is admissible. In individual cases, the consul may reduce or waive the fees, for example for humanitarian or public interest reasons.Appeal in the event of refusalConditions and details
In the event of refusal, the consular authority communicates the reasons in writing. The refusal is an individual administrative act that may be the subject of an appeal within a period of 75 days. The standard refusal form indicates how to lodge that appeal.Visa extensionConditions and details
You may apply to the Migration Department for an extension of a type C visa, within the total limit of 90 days from entry over any period of 180 days. You must justify the reasons for the application: the extension is free of charge in cases of force majeure or humanitarian reasons preventing you from leaving before the expiry of the visa or of the authorised stay. Serious personal reasons may also justify an extension, with a fee of 30 euros. A visa issued at the border cannot be extended.Multiple-entry visa for frequent travellersConditions and details
A multiple-entry type C visa, valid for 6 months to 5 years, may be issued to frequent travellers who demonstrate in particular the regular use of previous visas, their economic situation and their intention to leave Cyprus before the expiry of the visa. Specific rules (“cascade”) exist for applications submitted in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Ghana and the United States.Family members of EU or EEA citizensConditions and details
Under certain conditions (EU citizen exercising his or her freedom of movement, status of family member, travelling with him or her or to join him or her), family members of EU or EEA citizens fall under the free movement directive: priority treatment, reduced documents and no fee.FingerprintingConditions and details
The ministry indicates fingerprinting every 59 months. Confirm with the mission whether your fingerprints must be collected for this application.
