Steps

  1. Verify that Czechia is the sole or main destination; otherwise, apply to the Schengen State of the main or longest stay, or of first entry if the stays are equivalent.
  2. Identify the competent consulate or visa centre in the State of nationality or residence; applications are not submitted at the border or in Czechia.
  3. Make an appointment with the consulate or the visa centre, which set their own appointments, most often by email.
  4. Submit the application in person, no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before the trip, with the required documents; fingerprints are taken.
  5. Pay the visa fees when submitting, at the consulate or the visa centre: they are due for the submission of the application and are not refunded in the event of refusal.
  6. Wait for the decision: 15 days as a general rule, up to 45 days in certain cases, of which the consulate notifies the applicant.
  7. Collect the passport bearing the visa or the refusal form, yourself or through a third party with a certified power of attorney, unnecessary if the consulate was informed at the time of submission.
