The representation may require several photographs.Travel insurance covering the entire Schengen area for the planned duration of stay, with minimum coverage of 30 000 eurosConditions and details
The insurance covers repatriation costs for health reasons or in the event of death, essential medical care and emergency hospitalisation during the stay. It must be valid for the same period as the visa: the visa's validity period may be reduced if the insurance does not cover the entire period. This condition must remain fulfilled on entry and during the stay.Proof of sufficient means to cover the costs of the stay and the return journeyConditions and details
The Danish diplomatic representation assesses the necessary amount according to the duration of the stay and the type of accommodation. As an indication, the page cites approximately 350 Danish kroner (DKK) per day, and approximately 500 DKK per day in the case of a hotel stay. The applicant must be able to prove these means at any time, including on entry and during the stay.- Information and supporting documents on the purpose of the journeyThe page cites the information on the purpose of the journey among the relevant supporting documents to be gathered before the application.

Evidence establishing the intention to leave the Schengen area upon expiry of the visaConditions and details

Depending on your situation
Host's invitation in Denmark: printed invitation or identification number of the invitation filed online (private visit)Conditions and details
For a private visit, the Danish immigration service recommends that the host complete an invitation form, on paper or online, without requiring it. If the application is filed with the representation of another State acting for Denmark, the host downloads the invitation PDF from MyPage, prints it, signs it by hand and sends it to the applicant. The condition "accommodation with a host" is only an approximation of the private visit described by the page.Fingerprints taken at the visa application centre, unless fingerprints were taken for a Schengen visa within the last 59 monthsConditions and details
Fingerprints are taken when applying. They are not taken again if they were taken for a Schengen visa application less than 59 months before the new application. The questionnaire does not collect this information: the applicant must check this condition.

- Gather the documents from the checklist of the visa application center corresponding to the purpose of travel.
- Check the available slots at the visa application center and, if necessary, book an appointment there.
- Appear in person to submit the signed cover letter, the documents and the passport, and to have your biometric data recorded.

Application submission periodConditions and details

Transporting the application file from the application centre to the representation may take one to two days.Announced processing timesConditions and details

The Danish immigration service divides nationalities subject to visa requirements into five indicative groups. Nationals of group 1 can in principle obtain a visa for a purely tourist visit without a host in Denmark. For groups 2 to 5, a host in Denmark is normally necessary. Group 5 has access to it only in exceptional circumstances, such as the death or terminal illness of a relative living in Denmark. Each application is still examined on a case-by-case basis.Conditions imposed on the hostConditions and details
The host confirms that the visit is expected; the VU2 invitation form is recommended but not mandatory. The host must have permanent accommodation in Denmark, except in exceptions, and must normally be a citizen or resident of Denmark.Air ticketConditions and details
The Danish immigration service recommends not buying an air ticket before obtaining the visa. However, local agreements between Schengen representations may require a purchased ticket.- Documents requested locallyThe representation may request other documents, several photographs or copies of the application. The Danish representation adds a grace period of 15 days to the visa validity period: the period of validity and the duration of stay shown on the vignette therefore do not coincide.- Refusal and appealsIn the event of refusal, the passport is returned with a reasoned refusal letter that indicates how to appeal. The visa fee and the service fee are not refunded.

The representing state may refuse the application without consulting the Danish immigration service; an appeal is then lodged with the authorities of that state. For a Danish decision, the application must be submitted to a Danish representation or office.- Neither work, nor studies, nor settlementA Schengen visa does not permit settling, working or studying in Denmark. Beyond 90 days, or in order to work or study, a residence permit or a work permit must be applied for.

In case of doubt, inquire with the State that issued the permit.- Prior consultation for certain nationalitiesCertain nationalities are subject to consultation during the examination of the application; the list appears in Annex 16 of the Visa Code Handbook.
