Where and how to apply
The site of the Directorate General of Immigration brings together the services intended for foreign nationals and links to the official electronic visa portal, to the electronic visa on arrival application page and to application status tracking. The application is therefore filed online on that portal.
It specifies that an electronic visa on arrival application can be made for five people at once, and offers an online tracking function as well as a visa extension.
The immigration site also publishes a directory of visa types and a frequently asked questions page devoted to visas, which lists the documents expected depending on the route chosen.

- Prepare the documents required for the category selected, as indicated by the e-Visa portal.
- File the application online on the official electronic visa portal.
- Pay the visa fee through SIMPONI or by Mastercard, Visa or JCB credit or debit card.
- Track the status of the application online; the authority decides on issuance.
- Once the application is approved, download the visa using the link sent by email.

According to the portal consulted on 17 September 2026, the "Biaya Keimigrasian" page publishes a schedule of immigration fees organized by service — travel documents, residence permits and other services — denominated in Indonesian rupiah; it mentions, for example, "Izin Tinggal Kunjungan Masa Berlaku Paling lama 180 Hari : Rp 2.000.000,-". That page states a last update of October 24, 2023.
The processing times for a visa application are not stated on the pages consulted.
After the decision
The authority decides on issuance. The e-Visa portal states that, once the application is approved, a link to download the visa is sent by email, and that it is possible to track the status of the application online and to request an extension.
According to the frequently asked questions on residence permits, consulted on 17 September 2026, the application for a limited stay permit ("Izin Tinggal Terbatas") must be filed no later than 30 days from the issuance of the entry stamp. The same page states that the extension of a visit stay permit is granted at most five times in a row, for 30 days each time, and that the application to change status is filed while the person is on Indonesian territory.
