For the general consular route, Article 6 provides for a bank statement or a salary certificate, with the exceptions indicated in this guide. To prove resources in the general consular route of Article 6(1), provide a bank statement or a salary certificate. The exceptions of Article 6(2), described below, may modify this documentary requirement.
Steps
- Check whether the eVisa is accessible (eligible nationality, qualifying visa or residence permit); otherwise, the application goes through a visa service centre or an embassy.
- Prepare passport, photo, insurance and address of stay; depending on the route, gather the consular supporting documents and check the exceptions. Fill out the KSA Visa application and pay the fees.
- Go to the visa service centre, in the countries where one exists, otherwise to the embassy of Saudi Arabia of the country of residence.
- Track the application with your invitation or application number; the decision is notified by email and a new application remains possible at any time after a refusal.

eVisa or visa on arrival depending on one's situationConditions and details
Without a directly eligible nationality, the eVisa may be accessible depending on the visa or residence permit held. Visit Saudi also indicates a visa on arrival route for holders of a US, UK or Schengen tourist or business visa, and for permanent residents of the United States, the European Union or the United Kingdom. Article 6 requires that the qualifying visa be valid and have already been used to enter the issuing country. GCC residents fall under an eVisa route and distinct conditions to be checked on the official portal. Merely holding any visa or residence permit is not sufficient.Visa included in a tourist packageConditions and details
The Ministry of Tourism presents the Package Visa as a pilot programme of approved packages, with flight, approved accommodation, electronic visa and insurance. The published list currently targets citizens of Jordan, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico and Pakistan. Morocco is not on it. The ministry announces work to extend this list: check your eligibility before booking a package.Validity and duration of stayConditions and details
Visa validity and the authorised length of stay are different. Official sources do not all give the same length of stay: ask the issuing authority to confirm the duration that applies before you travel, then follow the terms stated on your visa. Do not assume that each entry starts a new 90-day stay.Activities coveredConditions and details
The tourist visa covers tourist activities and events, visits to family or friends and Umrah outside the Hajj season, subject to the permits required via Nusuk. Hajj requires a separate visa. Paid or unpaid work is prohibited; certain short business visits without a contract or paid work are permitted according to Visit Saudi. Makkah is reserved for Muslims; in Madinah, the city is open to all but access to the Prophet's Mosque and its precinct is restricted. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces a time of three working days for the visa application service at Saudi missions, which may be lengthened in exceptional cases requiring additional steps.- IntermediariesFor assistance with the application, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites use of its communication channels and avoidance of unauthorised persons or companies.
Exceptions to consular supporting documentsConditions and details
Article 6(2) provides for exceptions to the additional documents of the consular route, in particular for certain approved packages, holders of a valid US, UK or Schengen tourist or business visa already used to enter the issuing country, certain permanent residents of the United States, the European Union or the United Kingdom, and certain GCC residents. Accompanying relatives are also covered as applicable. Check with the issuing service whether your situation falls under an exception and which documents remain necessary.
