Identity photograph, only if a representative submits the applicationConditions and details
A passport-format photograph is requested only if a representative submits the application on the applicant's behalf. It is taken from the front and is less than six months old. The questionnaire does not collect this information: the condition must be verified by the applicant.Submission by a representative: copy of the power of attorney attached to the applicationConditions and details
If the applicant has applied for an entry visa for Sweden or another Schengen country in the last five years and gave their fingerprints at that time, a representative may submit the application on their behalf, outside Sweden. The representative needs a power of attorney from the applicant and attaches a copy of it to the application. The questionnaire does not collect this information: the condition is to be verified by the applicant.Visit to a private individual: invitation completed by the person visited in Sweden (form 241011)Conditions and details
A person who needs an entry visa to visit someone in Sweden for up to 90 days must have an invitation from that person. The host completes the form “Invitation – Before application for Schengen visa” (241011) and sends it to the visitor, who attaches it to their application. The invitation does not replace the visa application, which the visitor submits themself.Visit to a private individual: copy of an identity document of the person visitedConditions and details
The host sends the visitor a copy of their identity card, passport or an equivalent document proving their identity. A residence permit card does not count as an identity document.Visit to a private individual: special extract "Inbjudan" from the Swedish population registerConditions and details
The host orders from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) the special extract from the population register intended for the invitation, "Inbjudan", and sends it to the visitor. This extract does not need to bear a stamp or signature.Visit to a private individual who covers the costs: proof of the host's income and assetsConditions and details
If the person visited covers the visitor's subsistence during the stay, they send documents on their income and assets; the invitation form gives examples of these. This document does not apply if the visitor finances their stay themselves.

- Pay the fees at the time of submission and hand in your passport, which is forwarded to the embassy or consulate general handling the case.

Length of stay and visa stickerConditions and details
A Schengen visa covers at most 90 days over a period of 180 days. The sticker shows the number of days of stay and the period during which to use them, generally 15 days longer to allow the trip to be shifted; only the days indicated may be used. A multiple-entry visa may be valid for up to five years, with each stay remaining limited to 90 days over any period of 180 days.Visa limited to certain countriesConditions and details
The visa generally allows visits to the other Schengen countries, but it may be limited to Sweden or to certain countries, for example if the passport is not accepted by all; the visa indicates the countries where entry is authorised.Keep copies for the borderConditions and details
A Schengen visa does not automatically give the right to enter: at the border, information may be requested about means of subsistence, the intended duration of the stay and its purpose, and these checks may lead to a refusal of entry. Bring copies of the documents submitted with the application (invitation, travel confirmations, documents on the purpose of the stay).Exemptions and reduced feeConditions and details
In particular, pupils, students and doctoral students, as well as the teachers accompanying them, travelling to Sweden for their studies, and researchers coming for scientific research, do not pay a fee. Nationals of countries covered by an EU facilitation agreement (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Cape Verde, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine) pay less or nothing: the embassy or consulate general indicates the amount. The amount may vary slightly after conversion into local currency and is not refunded in the event of refusal. In the event of refusalConditions and details
A refusal may be the subject of a written appeal within three weeks of receipt of the decision, in accordance with the procedures indicated in it. If the decision comes from another Schengen country representing Sweden, the appeal is addressed to the authorities of that country. The appeal is first re-examined by the authority that decided; if it maintains its decision, it is transmitted to a migration court in Sweden.- No work with an entry visaWorking in Sweden with an entry visa, without a work permit, is possible only in exceptional cases.
