Where and how to apply
First use the official portal to check whether visa exemption, ETA or eVisa applies to your nationality, passport type and circumstances. If an eVisa is required for your tourist or business trip, the application is made online. The documents and fees below relate to this route.
Once approved, the eVisa is sent by email. It may be presented digitally or printed at a Ghanaian point of entry. Visa approval alone does not guarantee admission to the country: entry remains subject to the immigration officer's decision.
Application steps
- Check your eligibility and choose the applicable entry route: visa exemption, electronic travel authorisation (ETA) or eVisa.
- If an eVisa is required, choose B2 (tourism) or B1 (business) according to the purpose of travel.
- Create an account or sign in with an active email address.
- Enter applicant and passport details exactly as on the passport, then the dates and trip details.
- Provide accommodation and host information where applicable, as well as company information for a B1 visa.
- Upload the photograph and required supporting documents, and any additional documents requested according to nationality or situation.
- Check all the information, then follow the portal instructions for submission and payment when fees apply.
- Keep the application reference and monitor the dashboard and email inbox, especially to respond to a request for information (RFI).
Check the data before submission: a submitted application cannot be modified directly and cannot be withdrawn. A correction is then handled through support.
Supporting documents
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from the planned departure date from Ghana and with at least 3 blank pages.
- Colour photo no more than 6 months old, about 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, facing forward on a light or white background, sharp and without filters; eyes open, mouth closed and face clear. An authorised religious or medical head covering must leave the face visible.
- Confirmed return or onward ticket or itinerary.
- Accommodation for the entire stay: name, address in Ghana and booking proof at a hotel, guesthouse or other recognised establishment; when staying with a private individual, the host documents listed below.
- Active email address that is accessible for correspondence, notifications and receipts.
- B2 tourism: proof of sufficient funds, for example bank or credit card statements covering the last 3 months.
- On entry to Ghana: valid yellow fever vaccination certificate or card, to keep with travel documents.
- B1 business: signed company invitation stating the purpose of travel, the signatory's Ghana Card or passport bio page, certified registration documents and the company's Tax Clearance Certificate.
- Ghanaian host: signed invitation letter, the host's Ghana Card or passport bio page, and full home address.
- Foreign resident host: signed invitation letter, the host's passport bio page, valid Ghana residence permit and full home address.
A hotel replaces the private host questions but not the B1 documents. Any invitation or support letter must be signed and accompanied by the signatory's Ghana Card or passport bio page. If the signatory is a foreign resident in Ghana, attach their passport and Ghana residence permit.
Fees and processing times
As of 18 October 2026, the portal indicates flat fees in US dollars according to the processing option chosen, not according to nationality: Standard processing 260 USD (96 hours), Priority 338 USD (48 hours), Express 442 USD (5 hours). These times are estimates and not guarantees.
Fees must be paid in full before processing. Your payment provider may add bank or transaction fees. The terms provide for non-refundable fees, except for a system error or duplicate payment; a visa refusal does not entitle you to a refund. For an anomaly, contact support with proof of payment.
Fees are subject to change; check the portal before paying.
After submission and decision
After payment, an electronic receipt is sent to the registered address and the application status is updated. If funds are debited but the application does not appear as paid, contact support rather than paying again. Do not try to pay more than three times: after three failures, wait 24 to 48 hours.
If the officer requests additional information (RFI), respond within 3 days through the dashboard; send documents by email only if explicitly instructed. Processing is paused until you respond. After the deadline, the officer assesses the application using the information available.
If refused, the reason is sent by email. You may appeal once per application: state your reasons in at least 50 characters and attach up to 3 image or PDF files of 10 MB each. No additions are possible after submission. A senior officer other than the one who refused reviews the appeal. If the refusal is overturned, the application is reassessed, sometimes with an RFI; this does not amount to approval. A new refusal after this appeal cannot be appealed a second time.
After issuance, check the name and passport details on the eVisa. Keep a digital copy and, if possible, a printed one. Travel with the passport used in the application, proof of travel and accommodation, and the yellow fever certificate. Visa approval does not guarantee entry.
Tracking, verification and assistance
Application tracking is done through the official tracking service, using the reference number and a verification code sent by email. An official service also allows you to verify an issued eVisa.
To correct an error after submission, contact support with the reference and a description of the problem; do not submit a new application or pay again for this correction. If support agrees to open a form, only the relevant fields are accessible. The change takes effect after support validates it. For an already issued visa, an accepted correction produces a new visa: use it and discard the old copy.
A correction requested from support is distinct from an RFI sent by the processing officer. Official support is reachable at support.evisa@immigration.gov.gh and +233 (0) 308 249 682. Provide the application reference and keep proof of payment in case of an anomaly.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a visa to travel to Ghana?
This depends on nationality, passport type and the applicable rules. The portal distinguishes visa exemption, electronic travel authorisation (ETA) and eVisa; use its eligibility checker before taking any step.
How long can I stay with an eVisa?
The single-entry eVisa is valid for 90 days from issuance to enter Ghana. On arrival, the officer sets the permitted stay, up to 60 days. If the visa expires before your entry, a new application is required.
What are the eVisa fees?
As of 18 October 2026, the portal indicates 260 USD for Standard processing (96 hours), 338 USD for Priority (48 hours) and 442 USD for Express (5 hours). These amounts depend on the option chosen, not nationality, and the times are estimates.
What happens if I receive a request for information (RFI)?
Respond within 3 days via the dashboard; send documents by email only on explicit instruction. Processing is suspended until you respond, then resumes. After the deadline, the officer assesses the application based on the information held.
Can I modify my application after submitting it?
Not directly, and it cannot be withdrawn. Contact support with your reference, without submitting a new application or paying again for this correction. Support may open a targeted form; the change awaits its validation. If a correction is accepted on an already issued visa, a new visa is issued: use it instead of the old one.
What should I do if I am refused?
The reason is sent to you by email. You may appeal once per application from the dashboard, with at least 50 characters of explanation and up to 3 images or PDFs of 10 MB each, with no additions after submission. A different senior officer reviews the appeal. Overturning the refusal leads to reassessment, not automatic approval.
