According to the embassy in India's page, the duration of stay shown on the sticker indicates the number of days of stay possible in the Schengen area; the period of validity, the number of entries, the duration of stay, the passport number, the surname and the first name should be checked, and any error should be reported.- In case of refusalThe embassy in India's page states that a refusal is communicated with its written reasons and may be subject to appeal. Follow the procedures indicated in your decision.
90-day rule over any 180-day periodConditions and details
The Schengen Borders Code assesses the duration of stay by considering, for each day of stay, the 180 days preceding it; the day of entry and the day of exit count as days of stay, and stays covered by a residence permit or a long-stay visa are not counted. Previous stays are not checked by VisaGuideline.Passport issued less than ten years agoConditions and details
Among the entry conditions for a short stay, the Schengen Borders Code requires a travel document issued within the previous ten years, in addition to its validity of at least three months after the planned date of exit.Holders of a Schengen residence permit or long-stay visaConditions and details
The Schengen Borders Code provides for a visa exemption for the holder of a valid Schengen residence permit or long-stay visa. Residence in a country, by itself, does not prove possession of such a document: check its nature and its validity.- Stay of more than 90 daysThe visitor visa covers 90 days at most over 180 days. To work in Norway or stay there more than 90 days, the portal refers to the residence permit, processed by the UDI.
Restrictions concerning Russian nationalsConditions and details
Norway has restricted tourist visas for Russian nationals since May 2022. The instruction applicable since 29 May 2024 also provides for the refusal of tourist or non-essential travel at the external Schengen border, with exceptions, in particular for certain family visits, studies, professional activities or residence documents. Norwegian visas issued after 30 May 2022 are among the situations not covered by this instruction. An application from a Russian national must therefore be assessed by the competent authority according to the specific circumstances.
